The Foundation is specifically active on the topic of self-care, which begins with wellness and prevention, includes treatment of self-manageable conditions with over-the-counter symptom relief, and continues into chronic disease and risk management through medication therapy and lifestyle regimens. With an aging population, the predicted shortage of doctors and pharmacists, and the inability to continue the health care cost trajectory, the issue of competent self-care becomes paramount for the U.S. market.
We conduct research to identify and report policy, social and economic trends which may impact the progression of smart health care consumers. We also serve as a communications and education conduit, connecting consumers with appropriate content, and act as a catalyst in the formation of consortiums for collective initiatives.
